Louisville Historical Museum

Time for a little local love!

We’ve lived in Louisville, Colorado, for six years now, and I’ve been meaning to check out our local history museum that entire time, but it took my parents visiting from Australia this Summer to get us off our butts and visits what has been right under our noses this whole time!

If you’ve ever been to Louisville’s Main Street, you’re likely familiar with the iconic 5c Coca Cola mural on the side of an early 1900s building. They may not be serving up 5c sodas here, but what they are serving up is a whole lot of Louisville’s history!

This is the Louisville Historical Museum, and today I’m sharing it with you.

The Tangled Self at Denver Art Museum

Denver Art Museum got a whole lot more whimsical and colorful this Summer!

The Tangled Self is a new exhibit by Denver based fiber artist, and owner of Spectra Art Space, Sadie Young. It’s colorful, textural, quirky, interactive, and it is simply amazing!

If you’ve been here a while you’ll know that Spectra Art Space is one of my favorite places here in Denver. You can see our most recent visit for their immersive exhibition Novo Ita: Propagation in my previous blog post. At Spectra, Sadie Young provides a space to local artists to share their creativity with the community, so it makes me so happy seeing her work on display at Denver Art Museum.

Let’s take a look at The Tangled Self…

Whimsy and wonder abound at Spectra Art Space thanks to their immersive exhibition Novo Ita: Propagation.

Each Summer, Spectra Art Space blooms with color and botanical magic that must be seen to be believed. In this immersive experience, visitors step into a world like no other. A world where giant mushrooms, bubble blowing bears, mystical creatures, psychedelic artworks, miniature environments, towering flowers, glowing crystals, and so much more exist alongside verdant gardens. A world that not only exists in your wildest imagination, but also right here in Denver.

Designmuseum Danmark in Copenhagen

A little while back I shared my visit to Kirkland Museum here in Denver, and it got me thinking about our visit to the Designmuseum Danmark in Copenhagen way back in 2017.  Despite being one of my favorite places we visited in Copenhagen, I’m still yet to share it here on the blog. In fact, there’s still a lot from our Copenhagen trip that I still need to share in general, so stay tuned for a little bit of playing catch up.

I’m a huge fan of mid century modern design, and no one does it better than the Danes, so visiting a museum full of famous Danish designs was such a treat. Designmuseum Danmark features examples of some of Denmark’s most famous industrial design, including furniture, lighting, household goods, toys, graphic design, and so much more.

Let’s check it out…
