Hammond's Candies Factory Tour

It's the season of candy, but if you don't want to wait until Halloween to get your fill of all things sweet, then I have the perfect place for you to visit. And it's free!

Hammond's Candies has been a Denver institution ever since the company was founded in 1920. Specializing in old fashioned candies such as hard candies, lollipops, candy canes and taffy, they've been delighting Colorado kids (and adults!) for generations.  And with good reason. Their candies are delicious!

Now, eating candy is always pretty good, but do you know what's even better? Eating candy at the factory where it's made! That's where the free Hammond's Candies factory tour comes in.

Want to know more? Read on for all the details...

Tours of Hammond's Candies run Mondays through Saturdays from 9:15am to 2:15pm. Tours last about 30 minutes and during this time visitors will learn the history of Hammond's Candies and will get the chance to see classic candies being produced on the factory floor. As Hammond's Candies make quite a large range of products on site, you never know what you'll get to see being made. During our visit Hammond's Candies was preparing for the upcoming holiday season so we saw chocolate filled candy canes being made.

The tour area features large television screens so that visitors can get a close up look at production happening a little further away from the viewing windows. As well as seeing the chocolate filled candy canes being made we saw various candies being packaged and hot chocolate dunking spoons being covered in sprinkles.

Visitors are given a fun paper hat to wear during the tour as well as a sweet treat at the end. We were given chocolate filled candy canes just like those we saw being made.

Tours of Hammond's Candies start and end in their factory shop which features their extensive range of sweet treats. Candy canes, hard candy, hot chocolate snowballs and dunking spoons, cotton candy, chocolate bars, truffles, taffy, caramels, marshmallows and so much more are available for visitors to purchase. You know I couldn't help myself and just had to buy lots of candy!

Hammond's Candies is located at 5735 Washington Street, Denver.

Factory tours are free of charge, but bookings should be made in advance online at https://hammondscandies.com/pages/book-factory-tour. Walks ins are accepted if there is availability.

Tours run Mondays through Saturdays from 9:15am to 2:15pm.

Do you enjoy factory tours? I always find them so fascinating and the kids enjoy them too - even more so when there are sweet treats to be had!

We've also visited the Jelly Belly factory a few times when we lived in the Bay Area. You can see our visits here:
