30+ Must Do Fall Activities

It may not feel like it in much of the country, but Fall is officially here!

If you're anything like me, then Fall just might be your favorite season of all. For me, Fall has the best weather (once it actually starts cooling down, that is), the best festivals and events, and it has Halloween, which just happens to be my favorite holiday. Plus there are lots of yummy seasonal foods, fruit picking, pretty leaves, the best decorations, and lots of opportunities for crafting.

No matter where you live, there are so many fun "must do" activities in the Fall, so today I'm sharing my top things to do during Fall. Read on for the full list as well as a printable check list!

Ok, let's get onto that list...

Bluma Flower Farm

Do you ever walk through a city and think about just what you might see on the roof tops of apartment buildings if you were to look up? You'd likely see a lot of air conditioning units and other electrical equipment. Maybe a furnished roof deck for the tenants to enjoy. But what about a farm?

Ok, that last one sounds a little crazy, right? Well, as crazy as it might sound, there actually is an apartment complex in Berkeley with a farm on top of its roof!

During our recent visit back to California we had the pleasure of visiting Bluma Flower Farm. Usually visiting a farm of any sort requires heading out of the city, but this particular farm is located right in the heart of Downtown Berkeley. Located within easy walking distance of the UC Berkeley campus, Bluma Flower Farm can be found on the roof top of a student housing complex, six stories above the city streets.

It's such an ingenious use of space that would otherwise not be utilized. Let's take a look...

Denver Botanic Gardens

Can you believe that we've lived in Colorado for four years now and had never visited the Denver Botanic Gardens during the day? We finally fixed that with an afternoon spent taking in the beauty of the gardens with friends a few weeks back.

Now, I should point out that we have actually been to Denver Botanic Gardens a few times in the past, but our visits were always in the evenings for holiday events such as the Halloween themed Glow at the Gardens and the wintry Blossoms of Light. You can click those bold and underlined links to see these events.

Experiencing the Botanic Gardens all lit up at night sure was spectacular, but seeing the beauty of the gardens during the day in Summer when everything is in bloom was something else.

Bright Nights at Four Mile Historic Park

Denver nights will be looking a little brighter than usual over the next ten weeks thanks to a special new exhibition that has popped up in Four Mile Historic Park.

Bright Nights is a colorful display of illuminated sculptures and interactive fun that is sure to delight the whole family. Based on the Chinese tradition of lantern festivals, Bright Nights brings larger than life sculptures of animals and Chinese folklore to life through millions of twinkling lights.

Spread over Four Mile Historic Park's twelve acres, the exhibition features colorful whales, penguins, axolotls, fish, butterflies, peacocks, pandas, farm animals, sea horses and so many more creatures that twinkle in the dark and, in some cases, even move. You'll also find terracotta warriors, the animals of the Chinese zodiac and a giant steam breathing dragon on display.

An interactive children's area features lights to jump on, lighted swings, interactive displays, a mirrored room with dazzling lights, a glowing rain cloud, a glowing see saw and so much more.

We were lucky enough to be invited to a VIP night last weekend and it was such a fun night out. Read on to see all my favorite pics from the night and all the info you need to know about visiting Bright Nights, including some handy tips.

The Original McDonald's Museum

This past week McDonald's has been celebrating the birthday of Grimace (everyone's favorite weird purple blob), so I thought it was as good a time as any to share our visit to the very first McDonald's restaurant.

Located along Route 66 in San Bernadino, California, this site is no longer a McDonald's restaurant, but it is home to a fun little museum celebrating all things McDonald's. We stopped by for a visit on our way from Los Angeles to Denver last Summer and it totally felt like stepping back in time. So many childhood memories in one building.

30+ Things to do in Colorado with Kids

Summer Break is coming up in just a few months, and while that often means taking a trip out of state or even overseas, some of the best vacations are spent right at home exploring your own backyard. If you're in Colorado and planning to stay home this Summer (or if you're visiting Colorado from elsewhere) there is plenty of fun to be had locally.

Now, for a lot of people, when they think of Colorado the first things that come to mind are the mountains, skiing, snowboarding and hiking. Those are also the main things you'll see when you google "things to do in Colorado" or if you follow Colorado based bloggers/influencers. The mountains here are beautiful, but if you're like me and you don't really care for Winter sports or trekking far away from civilization, finding resources for things to do in Colorado can be a little tricky. So that's what I'm sharing with you here today! We're not skiers or hikers, so while you'll find a few short hikes in this post, I'm leaving the more outdoorsy pursuits to the pros. If you're looking for mountainy adventures, I'll share a few of my favorite local bloggers and influencers at the end.

Let's take a look at my favorite things to do in Colorado with kids...
