Glowing Wild at Denver Zoo

If you’re looking for somewhere to spend a day filled with wonder, excitement and a wealth of wildlife, Denver Zoo is always a great choice. Right now, it’s also one of the most colorful places to visit, day or night. But only for a few more days.

Through May 4th, Denver Zoo is home to Glowing Wild; an awe inspiring exhibition filled with larger than life colorful lanterns by Tianyu Arts & Culture.

Sixty unique scenes featuring various flora and fauna inspired lanterns light up the night on May 2nd through 4th, however, if you happen to visit the zoo during the day, you’ll also be in for a treat.

I visited Denver Zoo today with Mathilde’s class for a school field trip and had the pleasure of being able to see all of the Glowing Wild sculptures for myself.

Let’s take a look…

Over one hundred and forty five individual lanterns make up the exhibition, which is spread throughout the zoo’s campus. Many of the lanterns represent the animals from the regions of the zoo in which they can be found. For example, in the Down Under area you’ll find colorful koala, kangaroo, emu and cassowary lanterns. In the Asian region you’ll find elephants, peacocks, cloud leopards, monkeys, and red pandas. In the Colorado region you’ll find bison, pikas, mountain goats, and bears. The Africa relation features lions and giraffes. The South American region features flamingos, sloths, capybaras.

Flower, insect, reptile, and bird lanterns can be found all throughout the zoo’s campus.

There are also aliens!

Kids of all ages will enjoy the interactive installations including light up swings and seesaws, a giant walk through alligator, and funhouse mirrors.

Denver Zoo is located at 2300 Steele Street, Denver.

Open daily from 10am through 5pm. Entry gates close at 4pm.

Glowing Wild runs from 6:30pm through 9:30pm on May 2nd through 4th. An adults only night will be held on May 1st.
