52 Weeks: Week 6

Week 6: Silhouettes

Last Sunday the girls had portraits made by silhouette artist Karl Johnson of Cut Arts.

Ava and Lola had silhouette portraits made by Karl almost three years ago and when I learned that he was going to be in town again I jumped at the chance to get updated portraits. Plus one for Mathilde who wasn't around back then! You can see our original portraits here.

Party Animal Tattoos

For Ava's upcoming reptile themed birthday party I wanted to create something a little different to include in the party bags for the guests. I had bought a pack of printable tattoo paper a little while back but had never gotten around to making tattoos for the girls. A birthday party seemed like just the right excuse to make up some fun tattoos and the little party animals from Ava's invitation (which you can see here) perfectly fit the bill for the designs.

The tattoo paper that I used is made by Silhouette and designed to use with their software and fancy electronic cutting machines. As I don't own a Silhouette cutting machine I stuck to good old photoshop and an Xacto knife. A little more time consuming but easy peasy!

Rock... Paper... Scissors...

Rock... Paper... Scissors...

Ok, so there are no rocks involved, but what master silhouette artist Karl Johnson can create with just paper and scissors in only two and a half minutes is amazing! It totally rocks. Aha, that's where the rock comes in!

This week the girls were treated to their very own original silhouette portraits hand cut by master silhouette artist Karl Johnson of Cut Arts. This special event took place at our local toy store Mr Mopps.
