The 90s: The Last Decade Before the Future

Want to feel old?

If you’re a similar age to me, a sure fire way to feel old is to see your teen and early adult years on display in a museum. Yep… I’m officially “my life is a museum exhibit” old!

But it’s all good. It’s nostalgia. It’s memories.

I’m talking about the fun exhibition “The 90s: The Last Decade Before the Future” currently on display at the History Colorado Center. It’s a celebration of a decade that doesn’t feel that long ago, but also feels a whole world away. A decade and a time long gone.

Just like the 90s, the exhibition is about to become a thing of the past, with only a few days left to visit. So grab your Discman and your Blockbuster membership card, throw on a pair of parachute pants, look up History Colorado Center in your street directory, and make your way there by this weekend to revisit the nostalgia of the 90s.

Let’s take a look at what you’ll find…

Spooky season is here!

Fall is always my favorite time of year. The weather starts to get nicer and all the best events pop up.

No matter how spooky you are, there's something that you're sure to enjoy at this time of year. Pumpkin patches, corn mazes, haunted houses, immersive experiences, light displays, parades... this season has it all!

While we may be lacking the the apple picking fun of other states, Colorado sure does have a wealth of spooky season events, so let's take a look at all of my favorites coming up this year.

I've sorted this list into the following categories:
🎃 Pumpkin Patches & Farm Fun
🎃 Light Up the Night
🎃 Haunted Houses
🎃 Immersive Experiences
🎃 Family Friendly Fun

Louisville Historical Museum

Time for a little local love!

We’ve lived in Louisville, Colorado, for six years now, and I’ve been meaning to check out our local history museum that entire time, but it took my parents visiting from Australia this Summer to get us off our butts and visits what has been right under our noses this whole time!

If you’ve ever been to Louisville’s Main Street, you’re likely familiar with the iconic 5c Coca Cola mural on the side of an early 1900s building. They may not be serving up 5c sodas here, but what they are serving up is a whole lot of Louisville’s history!

This is the Louisville Historical Museum, and today I’m sharing it with you.

Let’s take a look…

The Tangled Self at Denver Art Museum

Denver Art Museum got a whole lot more whimsical and colorful this Summer!

The Tangled Self is a new exhibit by Denver based fiber artist, and owner of Spectra Art Space, Sadie Young. It’s colorful, textural, quirky, interactive, and it is simply amazing!

If you’ve been here a while you’ll know that Spectra Art Space is one of my favorite places here in Denver. You can see our most recent visit for their immersive exhibition Novo Ita: Propagation in my previous blog post. At Spectra, Sadie Young provides a space to local artists to share their creativity with the community, so it makes me so happy seeing her work on display at Denver Art Museum.

Let’s take a look at The Tangled Self…

Novo Ita: Propagation at Spectra Art Space

Whimsy and wonder abound at Spectra Art Space thanks to their immersive exhibition Novo Ita: Propagation.

Each Summer, Spectra Art Space blooms with color and botanical magic that must be seen to be believed. In this immersive experience, visitors step into a world like no other. A world where giant mushrooms, bubble blowing bears, mystical creatures, psychedelic artworks, miniature environments, towering flowers, glowing crystals, and so much more exist alongside verdant gardens. A world that not only exists in your wildest imagination, but also right here in Denver.
