The holiday season is here!
We kicked off the season this past weekend with a new to us event, Trail of Lights at Chatfield Farms.
Trail of Lights has long been a favorite with Colorado families, so I’m excited that we finally got a chance to check it out for ourselves.
Have you been to Chatfield Farms before? Chatfield Farms in Littleton is the second location of Denver Botanic Gardens (the first being the main gardens on York Street in Denver) and features a working farm and native plant refuge spanning some 700 acres. While the over all area of Chatfield Farms is significantly larger than the main Botanic Gardens campus, the Trail of Lights event is contained within a much smaller area, making it a great alternative to Blossoms of Lights for families with young children, or those who prefer a quieter stroll through twinkling lights.
Let’s take a look…
Visitors to Chatfield Farms’ Trail of Lights are treated to a one mile long walk through landscaped a garden and farmyard lit up with thousands of twinkling lights. The trees light up the night sky in an array of colors. Lawn areas come to life with laser displays reminiscent of a dance floor. Walk through tunnels create a sense of being surrounded by colorful lights. Giant slow flakes twinkle in the night sky. Snowmen, baubles and Christmas trees dazzle along walk ways. Historic farm buildings and machinery are illuminated. It’s all a very magical experience.
Visitors can warm up with a hot beverage and kettle corn available to purchase by the entrance, as well as a visit to the Warming Hut where treats such as fudge and caramels are on offer. You’ll also find fun photo opportunities inside the Warming Hut.
