Meow Wolf: House of Eternal Return in Santa Fe

If you're following along on Instagram, you'll know that we recently visited the original Meow Wolf location in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I'm a huge fan of immersive art, and Meow Wolf is one of our absolute favorite places to immersive ourselves in a world of wonder, creativity and imagination.

We've been lucky enough to visit three Meow Wolf locations (in Denver, Santa Fe and Las Vegas) over the years, and each time it really has felt like stepping through a portal into a whole new world. A world where nothing makes sense, yet somehow all makes sense at the same time.

Today I'm sharing more of our visit here on the blog. Prepare for LOTS of photos! You may notice that there are a few photos where the kids look younger. That's because I've also included a few from our earlier visit back in 2022. It's crazy how much they've changed in just four years!

Let's take a look at Meow Wolf House of Eternal Return...

The original Meow Wolf location, House of Eternal Return in Santa Fe is a house like no other. Upon entering the exhibition space, visitors are greeted by a Victorian style house. A house that seems perfectly normal at first glance, but is filled with mysterious and curious rooms, where the unbelievable and unexpected can be found at every corner. Or inside closets, fridges, fireplaces and washing machines.

Open the closet door, crawl through a fire place, or slide through a washing machine and you'll find yourself in a whole new world. And yes, I did say slide through a washing machine!

My favorite thing about Meow Wolf, is that so many of the art installations are interactive. Pretty much everything can be touched or interacted with in some may, which makes it the perfect place to visit with kids. We all know they can't resist pressing buttons, turning wheels and pulling levers! Some of the interactive elements are kind of obvious, like the vintage games found in the arcade space, but others are a little more obscure, so make sure to press every button and open every cupboard door or drawer you find. You'll find yourself driving an upside down school bus through a vortex of color, playing music on a mammoth skeleton, making walls light up with color, and so much more.

But it's the climbing on, up and through impossible items that is my absolute favorite! Climbing into a washing machine leads to a sparkling slide that takes you to a forest like landscape. Crawling through a fireplaces leads to a musical mammoth skeleton. Walking through a fridge door leads to a long hallway. A bedroom bookcase opens and leads to a magical world. Even walking up or down a simple staircase is an adventure.

There are, of course, a ton of fun photo opportunities in Meow Wolf. Stopping to take a selfie is never looked down upon. In fact, it's expected!

While I love all of the hands on experiences in Meow Wolf, there are just as many non-interactive art pieces that can be found throughout that add to the wonder and magic.

Exploring new worlds is hungry and thirsty work, so make sure to drop by the onsite Float Cafe & Bar for tasty treats and delicious drinks. You'll find kid friendly favorites like chicken tenders, hot dogs, quesadillas and fries, plus local flavor including frito pies, green chili cheese fries and churros. Kids will love the cotton candy topped Mini Meow mocktail. Adults can get in on the cotton candy fun with the famous Meowgarita cocktail. A full range of sodas, beers and hot drinks are also available.

The gift shop is also a must visit. Why leave all the interdimensional fun behind when you can take home a Meow Wolf character plushy, a fun sweater, or something extra weird like a potato camera, a banana hipflask, or butter scented room spray.
