Easter Peeps Bunny Wreath DIY

It's almost Easter!

How did that sneak up so quickly? Are you ready for it?

If decorating is on your list of things to do I've got a quick and easy DIY for you today. It's an Easter wreath made out of Peeps bunnies. But you probably guessed that from the title of this post and the pics, right?

Now, I've got to say that I'm not much of a Peeps fan when it comes to eating them (they're far too sugary for even this sweet tooth) but I do think that the bunny shaped Peeps are super adorable. I mean, just look at them! Aren't they cute? So, because they're cute but I don't like eating them I like to get crafty with them! In the past I've made Peeps bunting for both Easter and Halloween (you can see them here and here) and I've made Peeps Pikachu pops for Pokemon themed birthday parties (which you can see here). Ok, that last one was for eating. 

Today I'm adding to my Peeps crafting repertoire with a wreath. It's super easy, uses only a few materials and it takes no time at all to make. I knocked mine up in maybe half an hour, and that was including taking photos for this post. 

Pikachu Marshmallows

At Mathilde's little Pokémon birthday party last weekend we made Pikachu marshmallows. They're super easy to make, taste yummy, and the kids really enjoyed making them. 

I had originally planned to make the Pikachu marshmallows in advance to serve up as a party food (as I had done for Ava's Pokémon themed 10th birthday party years ago) but then I figured that seeing as we were at home with access to a kitchen, it would be fun to make them as a party activity. And I was right! It was fun!

These little Pikachus are super simple to make and only need a few ingredients.

Halloween Candy Bunting

Earlier this year the girls and I made Easter bunting for our front door using bunny shaped Peeps. The colorful bunting was a big hit with the girls, so when I spotted ghost shaped Peeps for Halloween in the supermarket recently, I just knew that we had to get creative with squishy marshmallow again.

So, yesterday Lola and I made Halloween bunting out of ghost shaped Peeps and that Halloween candy that everyone loves to hate - candy corn.

The instructions for making this bunting are pretty much exactly the same as out Easter bunting (which you can find here) but I thought I'd share them again.

Having spent most of my life in Australia, Peeps are a strange and mysterious thing to me.

I had never seen these brightly colored, sugary marshmallows blobs until our first Easter in America four years ago. I couldn't bring myself to buy them for the kids back then (Easter is for chocolate eggs, not marshmallows!) or in subsequent years, but this year I finally gave in and decided to embrace this American Easter tradition. Well, kind of...

You see, I didn't buy Peeps for my kids to eat. I bought them to decorate with!

After seeing bunny shaped Peeps in the supermarket I thought they'd look cute strung up together as bunting. So I purchased a couple of packs and the girls and I spent the afternoon getting creative.
